The St. Mary’s Neighborhood encompasses the hills on South, Columbia and Main Streets from Tenth Street to the 5-Point intersection.  The area was named in honor of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the focal point of the neighborhood. Many of the early residents in the area were members of the church and moved to the neighborhood to be near the structure. Many of the homes date from the 1860s and 1870s and include fine examples of Italianate, Greek Revival and Queen Anne styles. The district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
St. Mary's Historic Neighborhood
Neighborhood attractions include the Historic Five Points Fire Station Museum and the St. Mary’s Cathedral.
